Flooding in Lentekhi: 4 Villages Cut Off from the Outside World
Heavy rain that hit Lentekhi Municipality in Georgia's Svaneti region this morning damaged the access roads to several villages of the Choluri community and washed away 3 bridges.
The Laskadura River overflowed its banks, which poses a treat to the local population.
"The heavy rain that started in Lentekhi earlier this morning lasted for a long time and cut off the villages of the Choluri community - Sakdari, Durashi, Esieri, and Tvibi from the outside world. The disaster washed away 3 bridges and completely destroyed the road connecting the villages.
"Fortunately, the electric power transmission lines were not damaged. Rescue services are working on the spot, we are waiting for the acting representative of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti region Giorgi Makarashvili and the majoritarian Gocha Enukidze. At this time, the population is not affected, but if the rain continues, the settlement will be in danger,” Lentekhi Mayor Badri Liparteliani said.
