Family Hotel Owner in Kobuleti Tests Positive for Coronavirus, 18 Quarantined
A family hotel owner in Kobuleti, a seaside town in Adjara, western Georgia, has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The infected patient, a 60-year-old man, has been transferred to Batumi Republican Hospital.
Due to the new case, 18 persons who were in contact with the man were taken to a quarantine area in Kobuleti, while two are in self-isolation. At this point, a total of 26 patients are being treated for coronavirus at the Batumi Republican Hospital. Their condition is stable.
The Adjara Public Health Center says PCR testing of the service staff of cafes, bars, restaurants and clubs in Batumi will also start today.
As of August 21, 15 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia. Marina Ezugbaia, the Medical Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, said that the source of 2 cases is unknown.
"Out of 15 new cases, the source of 4 infections is the village of Lenjeri, Svaneti region, 4 cases are the contacts of already confirmed patients, 3 cases are imported, the source of 2 patients is being established. The number of recoveries has increased by 20, reaching 1128. The recovery rate amounts to 81%. 240 confirmed cases are currently getting treatment in the COVID centers," she noted.
