USAID Support for Tourism, Manufacturing, E-commerce, ICT to Increase
Georgia’s Economy Minister Natia Turnava today announced that USAID will increase support for manufacturing, e-commerce, information and communications technology (ICT), and other innovative sectors.
“Significant support will be provided to e-commerce and other high-tech industries; Increasing the quality of digitalization is a trend that is especially vital in the post-pandemic period”, said Turnava.
Turnava met USAID Georgia Mission Director Peter Wiebler to discuss the expansion of the Georgia-USAID Economic Security Program, which aims to assist Georgian firms to take advantage of the country’s market access and location to exploit regional economic opportunities, creative high-paid jobs and increase sales.
Wiebler said: “The main reason why it is important to continue this program is this: it helps the economy to recover from the coronavirus crisis and includes programs that were not previously included in this program. We are talking about light industry, e-commerce, information technology and more”.
