Acting GPB CEO to Participate in Contest for the Position of Director General
The Acting CEO of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), Tinatin Berdzenishvili, will participate in an upcoming contest for the position of Director General following the resignation of former Director General Vasil Maglaperidze.
"It's probably no surprise for anyone that I'm going to participate in the competition. The first reason for this is already implemented work and the result that you already see on all the platforms of the First Channel- and from the new season we will all see even more. Also the most important and fundamental transformation processes that take place behind the scenes with a team that understands the exact meaning of the public broadcaster, the idea and the values of public media in Georgia and Europe.
"I'm honored to be a member of the Media Management Committee of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the head of the Gender Equality Group, whose alliance brings together 115 members from 56 countries and 900 local and regional TV and radio services. In addition, the main reason for making this decision is that I know our organization in detail, I'm well aware of the micro-processes going on here and I hope that my knowledge and accumulated experience will only be useful for the Public Broadcaster in Georgia," Berdzenishvili said.
Vasil Maglaperidze, former Director General of the First Channel of Georgia, resigned on August 18.
"Even though I am fully convinced that the First Channel will cover the upcoming elections and all other political processes impartially, I decided to resign in order to prevent any doubts about the channel's impartiality”, Maglaperidze said in his statement about his resignation.
