Coronavirus: Of 34 New Cases, 6 from 'Dona Cluster,' 8 Have Travel History in Adjara

Marina Ezugbaia, the Medical Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, has clarified details of the sources of 34 new coronavirus cases detected in Georgia today.

She noted that 6 of the 34 new cases are related to the confectionery 'Dona' cluster in Batumi, while 8 patients have travel history in the Adjara region.

"In the last 24 hours, 34 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Georgia, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1684. 6 of the 34 new cases of infection are related to the confectionery 'Dona' cluster in Batumi, 8 patients have travel history in the Adjara region, 15 are contacts of confirmed patients, 1 is a medical staff, 2 are imported cases. We have 2 cases for which the source is not confirmed and epidemiological studies are ongoing," Ezugbaia told journalists. 

She added that the number of recoveries has increased by 5, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1315. 

19 people have died of the virus in the country so far. 

Currently, there are 350 active cases in Georgia.
