Geostat: Georgia Attracts $237.8 mln in FDIs in Q2 2020, UK Top Foreign Investor

The foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to USD 237.8 million in Q2 2020 (preliminary data), up 0.5% from the adjusted data of Q2 2019, shows the latest report by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). 

Based on the report, The shares of FDI by major foreign direct investor countries were distributed as follows:

  • The United Kingdom (24.8%)
  • Netherlands (22.4%)
  • Turkey (13.3%)

The share of FDI by three major economic sectors reached 57.0% in Q2 2020.

The largest share of FDI was registered in the financial sector, reaching USD 78.1 million in Q2 2020, the energy sector was the second with USD 29.6 million, followed by the construction sector with USD 27.7 million.
