MP Levan Gogichaishvili, His Wife Infected with COVID-19

Independent MP Levan Gogichaishvili and his wife, TV Pirveli journalist Vika Bukia, have tested positive for coronavirus.

Bukia says that both of them feel well, while the source of the infection is unknown.

"We immediately took measures as soon as we noticed suspicious symptoms. The source is completely unknown. We had no contact with any suspicious cluster," she said. 

Everyone who had contact with the infected MP since September 5 will be tested for COVID-19 and go into self-isolation, parliament’s press office has announced.

As of September 10, 57 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Georgia, bringing the total number to 1830.

The number of recovered patients has increased by 9, reaching 1334.

Currently, there are 451 active cases in Georgia.
