January-August 2020: Exports from Georgia Decreased by 14.7%, Imports - by 17.5%

In the first eight months of 2020, exports of goods from Georgia were decreased by 14.7% and imports by 17.5%, shows the latest data by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). 

Based on the foreign trade statistics, in January-August 2020, the foreign trade turnover of goods in Georgia (excluding undeclared trade) amounted to 7 022.8 million USD, which is 16.7% less than the amount of the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports amounted to 2,071.4 million USD (14.7% less), while imports amounted to 4 951.4 million USD (17.5% less).

The trade deficit equaled USD 2 880.0 million and its share in trade turnover constituted 41.0%.

Geostat is expected to publish detailed data on Georgia's foreign trade on September 21.
