Gamkrelidze: Georgia is still in the Green Zone
In response to public fears over the rising second wave of the pandemic in Georgia, Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, has made an announcement in which he claims that Georgia still remains in the safe “green” zone of the pandemic spread.
"Despite the increase in the rate of infection, Georgia is still in the green, safe zone. According to the international relative figures, Georgia still is one of the safest countries – per 100,000 inhabitants, we have 1.74 people infected. We have set the line at 5. This being said, I am still underlying that we have a rise in daily infections these past few days and we should try to minimize this together, adhering to all recommendations,” Gamkrelidze said.
The NCDC Head also said that they are testing more people now than before: if in August it was on average 4665 people, since September 4, it has been 8259.
