PM: We Will Begin Direct Flights from Kutaisi to Riga from 1 October

"We have decided to begin direct flights from Kutaisi to Riga from 1 October," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at the session of the government.

The head of the government stressed that this is done primarily in the interests of the citizens of Georgia while taking into account the protection of their health and lives.

"As of today, direct flights from Tbilisi to Europe are open to international airlines such as Lufthansa, Air France, AirBaltic, as well as our national carrier. Today, we have decided to begin direct flights from Kutaisi to Riga from 1 October. These flights will be carried out by Wizz Air. This will not be a bold decision, as this entails only one flight per week; however, this reflects a trend whereby we must do everything to restore the economy even faster, in a prudent and careful manner. Of course, this is done primarily in the interests of our citizens and, unconditionally, while taking into account the protection of their health and lives.

"We will continue to open the Georgian airspace carefully and consistently, first of all considering the epidemiological situation as well as, of course, our economic interests," the Prime Minister noted.
