Coronavirus Claims Life of 22nd Patient in Georgia, 218 New Cases Reported

Coronavirus has claimed the life of a 22nd patient in Georgia. The 72-year-old man was undergoing treatment in Batumi in the Batumi Republican Hospital.

Doctors say that the deceased had concomitant diseases and his condition was extremely aggravated.

This is the second coronavirus-related death reported in the country in the last 24 hours. 

The 21st patient, who died of coronavirus at a Kutaisi clinic, was from Batumi.

As of September 22, 218 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia, and the number of infected people has reached 3913.

Of the 218 newly detected cases, 137 were reported in Adjara and 47 in Tbilisi. 6 cases were reported in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 26 in Imereti and 2 in Guria.

There are currently 20 patients in intensive care units whose condition is serious. 

The number of recoveries has increased by 40 and reached 1574.
