41st Patient Dies of Coronavirus in Georgia
Another patient has died of coronavirus in Georgia, bringing the total number of deaths to 41, a government-run special website stopcov.ge reports.
The deceased patient was from Adjara. An 82-year-old man had concomitant heart disease. He was being treated at the Batumi Republican Hospital.
This is the second coronavirus-related death reported in the country today. The 40th deceased patient was an 81-year-old man, who was also being treated at the Batumi Republican Hospital. He had concomitant diseases.
As of October 1, a record-high number of coronavirus infections have been detected in Georgia, as the country reported 448 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infected people to 6640.
The head of the department at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Marina Endeladze, told reporters that of 448 new cases, 241 were confirmed in the Adjara region, where the situation in terms of virus spreading becomes more alarming by the day.
The number of recovered patients increased by 299 to reach 3419.
Currently, there are 3,154 active cases of coronavirus in the country.
