Cartu Foundation Hands Over Former Hippodrome Territory to the Capital Free of Charge

Cartu Foundation handed over the territory of the former hippodrome to the municipality free of charge today, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at a briefing in the city council.

Kaladze noted that a Dutch company is working on the project of the Central Park of Tbilisi, which will be built on the above territory, and the construction will cost several tens of millions. The Mayor added that the project will take about 3 years.

"Another gift of 'Cartu' was handed over to Tbilisi - the former territory of the hippodrome.

"For decades, the Cartu Foundation has been implementing numerous charitable projects. Among them, one of the most important directions is to take care of nature, to create green spaces and unique parks throughout the country. For instance, the recently implemented Dendrological Park Project, which is beautiful, not only for our country, I think it is one of the most successful in the region.

"Today is a very important day for our capital because Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Cartu Foundation handed over the territory of the former hippodrome in the city center to the municipality free of charge. The Central Park of Tbilisi will be built on the above territory with the help of Cartu, and it will cost tens of millions. Regarding the project, a Dutch company is working on it. It is almost completed. Tomorrow we will have a full presentation of this project and in the coming days we will provide you with information about the exact date when the construction will start”, said Kakha Kaladze.

He pointed out that the contribution of the Cartu Foundation and Bidzina Ivanishvili personally is invaluable in saving the territory of the hippodrome.

"The contribution of the Cartu Foundation and Bidzina Ivanishvili personally, who redeemed the mentioned space, is invaluable in saving the territory of the hippodrome, and today he will hand it over to the Georgian people, Tbilisi and Tbilisians free of charge. I would like to personally thank Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family for this truly important gift to the future generations," the Mayor said.
