Trump, Still Infectious, Back at White House Without Mask
US President Trump has returned to the White House after spending three nights at Walter Reed Medical Center for coronavirus treatment.
"After exiting Marine One, Trump walked up a set of stairs, took off his mask and posed for photographs on a balcony," CNN reports.
He immediately ignited a new controversy by declaring that despite his illness the nation should not fear the virus that has killed more than 210,000 Americans.
"Trump’s message alarmed infectious disease experts and suggested the president’s own illness had not caused him to rethink his often-cavalier attitude toward the disease, which has also infected the first lady and several White House aides, including new cases revealed Monday," the Associated Press reports.
Trump, who remains contagious, is expected to continue his recovery at the White House, from where he released a new video with a don't-worry message.
“Don’t be afraid of it,” he said of the virus. “You’re going to beat it. We have the best medical equipment, we have the best medicines.”
The local media points out that "His remarks were strong, but he was taking deeper breaths than usual as he delivered them."
The US President announced he and First Lady Melania were infected with coronavirus on Friday morning.
