PM: Politicization of Investigation Linked to Georgian-Azerbaijani Border Unacceptable
The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia calls on everyone not to politicize the investigation related to the issue of delimitation-demarcation of the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
The head of the government stressed that this issue is Georgia's internal affair and will not harm the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan.
"I have to respond to the current investigation because there are attempts to politicize the issue, which is absolutely unacceptable.
"Everyone should remember that the investigation should be completed and only then should we make our final conclusions. The issue is so important that any kind of politicization and political speculation on these issues is simply detrimental to the country. It is therefore absolutely unacceptable and inadmissible.
"We believe that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Georgia and this will continue in any case. I would like to say that this is why neither the fact of launching an investigation, which is entirely Georgia's domestic affair, nor the newly revealed circumstances of the investigation, which we have already shared with our Azerbaijani counterparts, can damage the strategic partnership between the two countries.
"This is urgent and, of course, I would like to call on everyone once again not to politicize the issue, it is in the interests of the country," Gakharia said at today's government session.
