Nino Kadagidze Elected Chairperson of Supreme Council of Justice

Nino Kadagidze, Chairperson of the Supreme Court, has been elected as the Chairperson of the Supreme Council of Justice. Based on the amendments to the Organic Law on Common Courts, the chairperson was elected from the current composition of the High Council of Justice. Her candidacy was supported by the majority of the members of the Council.

Kadagidze's candidacy was not supported by only one non-judicial member of the council, Nazi Janezashvili.

The High Council of Justice (HCOJ) nominated Nino Kadagidze to the Parliament as a candidate for the Chair position on March 10, 2020.

The post of Chairman of the High Council of Justice has been vacant since 2018, after the resignation of the Chairman of the Supreme Council Nino Gvenetadze. Until now, Giorgi Mikautadze, the Secretary of the High Council of Justice, has been acting Chairman of the Council.
