PM: Georgians Returning Home with PCR Test will No Longer Need Quarantine

As stated by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, the quarantine rule for the citizens of Georgia returning home is to be changed in the future.

The above means that Georgian citizens who will have negative PCR test answers when returning to the country will no longer undergo mandatory quarantine in a space rented by the state. They will instead spend 12 days in self-isolation at home. Those who do not have a test answer will still have to spend 12 days in quarantine.

"All our citizens who are returning to their homeland and have undergone PCR testing will have the opportunity to self-isolate for 12 days as an alternative to quarantine. This is a requirement that needs to be met; however, those citizens who have not undergone PCR testing will still be able to make use of quarantine spaces. With this, we are trying to introduce more dynamism to our economy," Giorgi Gakharia stated.

The head of the government noted that quarantine spaces have played an important role during the first stage of the spread of the pandemic.

Earlier, the Prime Minister announced that new flights will be added to the existing routes from the end of October, in particular, to Munich and Paris. He noted that this "will provide more oxygen to the economy."

New direct flights to Europe from Kutaisi and Tbilisi will open in November.

Right after that, it is planned to make the above-mentioned change in the mandatory quarantine rule.
