Studies in Universities to Continue in a Semi-remote Mode

As reported by the Ministry of Education of Georgia, from October 19, studies in the university auditoriums will be only partially resumed.

In particular:

  • Higher education institutions operating in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Poti will conduct practical and laboratory trainings in a non-distance mode from October 19, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health;
  • Universities are authorized to control other components of the learning process remotely;
  • Higher education institutions will provide students with additional information related to the practical and laboratory work schedule and the learning process;
  • Higher education institutions operating on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will continue the educational process remotely;
  • Higher education institutions operating in Gori, Telavi and Akhaltsikhe will continue their education in the usual, non-remote mode;

From October 19, studies will be resumed in a hybrid mode at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, with theoretical courses conducted remotely, and laboratory / practical courses conducted in the auditorium, taking into account all safety regulations. If necessary, depending on the epidemiological situation, it is possible to delay the practical component.

The schedule of practical and laboratory works and other information related to the study process will be provided to the students.

In recent weeks, cases of coronavirus in Georgia have been growing rapidly, especially in Tbilisi.
