Coronavirus: Georgia Records 1731 New Cases, 2197 Recoveries, 15 Deaths

As of October 28, 1731 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia, bringing the total number of infected people to 33858.

Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Chief of Operational Staff at the Interagency Coordination Council, has clarified the locations where 1731 new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours.

The locations are as follows:

  • Adjara 333
  • Imereti 320
  • Kvemo Kartli 121
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti 119
  • Shida Kartli 76
  • Kakheti 45
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti 39
  • Guria 18
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti 15
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti 9

Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), said that as of the morning of October 28, another 123 medical workers had been infected with the coronavirus.

Gamkrelidze also spoke about the infection of medical workers yesterday, on October 27. He said that 1,678 medical workers were infected so far, which is 5.2% of the total number of infected people. 

Sichinava added that at this stage 521 coronavirus patients are in a serious condition, of those 120 have been put on artificial respiration.

The number of recovered patients has increased by 2197 to reach 14829.

"The increase in the number of recoveries gives us grounds for cautious optimism, today this number has exceeded 2,000," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia noted. 

15 patients died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 253. 

7 of 15 deceased patients died in Adjara, 4 in Tbilisi and 4 in Imereti. 

As of October 28, there are 18750 active cases of coronavirus in the country.
