CEC: No Fact of Voter Bribery Observed at Polling Stations

The Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesperson, Ana Mikeladze, announced that during the ongoing elections on October 31, as of 12 o'clock, no voter bribery had been registered at the polling stations.

"Bribery of voters is a violation of the law and the relevant response is provided for in the Criminal Code. No such facts were reported at the polling stations, and outside the precinct, in the surrounding area, if, unfortunately, similar facts occur, it is beyond the competence of the election administration, and the relevant agencies will respond. Restricting the movement of voters within 25 meters from the polling station is not permitted,” said Ana Mikeladze.

Mikeladze also responded to the statement of Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the Georgian Dream election headquarters, that representatives of European Georgia and Strategy Builder had attempted to steal a ballot box from the 55th polling station in Bolnisi.

She noted that a ballot box is in place at the 55th polling station in Bolnisi. Regarding the attempt to steal the ballot box, information is being obtained about this matter. 

Today, on October 31, The 2020 Parliamentary Elections are being held in Georgia. As reported by the Central Election Commission, as of 12:00, the voter turnout totals 19.41%, which equals 681,583 voters in figures. 

The highest voter turnout as yet, 28.3%, has been identified in Racha-Lechkhumi and Svaneti, while the lowest voter turnout is identified as 17.9% in the Adjara region.
