Embassy of Italy Shares OSCE/ODIHR's Assessment on Georgia's 2020 Elections
Along with other international partners assessing the 1st round of the Parliamentary Elections held in Georgia on Saturday, the official representation of Italy in the country has also echoed the recent important political event, pointing out that the Embassy of Italy in Georgia shares OSCE/ODIHR's initial assessment on October 31 Elections and reaffirms its support to a stable and democratic development of the country.
Further, the Embassy calls on all parties to work together to address the shortcomings identified during the election process by local and international observers.
“Italy invites to abide by international standards when handling appeals and in the 2nd round; calls an all parties to work together to address shortcomings identified by observers,” the Embassy stated.
Italy was an active participant in the observation mission during the parliamentary elections held in Georgia on October 31.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly stated that "elections were competitive", while also reported "pervasive allegations of pressure on voters and blurring of the line between the ruling party and the state."
Currently, the results of the first round are finalized and the country heads to run-off elections on November 21.
