Opposition Protests: Gunshots Heard Near Ruling Party Leader's Residence
Gunshots have been heard near ruling party leader Bidzina Ivanishvili’s business center in Tbilisi, where the United Opposition activists are holding a rally and protesting the election results.
One of the activists told reporters that the gunshots could be heard about five times, the aim of which was to intimidate activists.
Another protester said he saw how an individual was shooting from a white 'Toyota Camry' vehicle with tinted windows.
Empty cartridges can be seen on the ground. The police have cordoned off the area with a yellow ribbon.
Law enforcers are working at the site.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the investigation was launched under Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which stipulates illegal purchase, storage, carrying, manufacturing transportation, forwarding or sale of firearms.
