Inter-Agency Coordination Council Reviews Current Epidemic Situation in Georgia
The current epidemic situation in Georgia and enforced precision-targeted restrictions were discussed by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a working meeting today, which was led by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia.
Council members reviewed the rising trend of COVID-19 throughout the world, which has already exceeded 53 million test-positive cases. It was noted that irrespective of the increasing numbers of viral infection, the country maintains the strategy of precision-targeted and localized approaches.
Council members also discussed the current restrictions and steps taken in Georgia to slow-down the community transfer rate. Attention was put on the hospital sector, primary healthcare and the current status of testing.
The Council once again stressed the need for adherence to the established rules, including the wearing of facemasks and distancing to facilitate the prevention of viral spread.
As of today, 76,658 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Georgia through lab tests, out of which 58,674 individuals recovered and 669 died of the coronavirus.
At present, 2 425 individuals are in quarantine, 3361 - at COVID Hotels, 5 355 - under medical supervision at hospitals of the country.
