Opposition Parties, Supporters Holding Rally with Slogan “We Will Defend Our Votes”

Opposition parties and their supporters are holding a protest rally on the central Rustaveli Avenue, in front of the Parliament in Tbilisi.

The protest participants object to the results of the October 31 parliamentary elections.

“We will defend our votes,” is the slogan of the rally.

Leaders of opposition parties are addressing the gathered demonstrators. They say they refuse to enter the parliament of the 10th convocation, as they believe that the election was rigged by the incumbent government.

The opposition has three demands: Holding of repeat parliamentary elections, the resignation of Chairperson of Central Election Commission Tamar Zhvania and release of several political prisoners.

Leaders of opposition parties along with supporters marched from various locations. They plan to continue protest rallies in the coming days until their demands are satisfied.
