NCDC Head: Serious Restrictive Measures May Be Imposed

Head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze announced after today's meeting of the Coordination Council that no complete lockdown is being considered in Georgia for now; however, serious restrictive measures are being negotiated.

"As you know, certain restrictive measures have already been introduced in Georgia to tackle the pandemic. In light of the current epidemiological situation, these restrictions will have to be tightened even more. The Coordination Council will hold additional consultations this evening and also tomorrow. We will then get back to you with the details”, said Gamkrelidze.

Georgia has registered 3,157 new cases of the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, 1,249 of which were reported in Tbilisi. 30 persons have passed away.
