Finance Minister, Austrian Amb Discuss Bilateral Relations, Future Cooperation
Today, the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Machavariani met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Georgia Mr. Thomas Mühlmann.
At the introductory meeting, the parties discussed bilateral relations, including the current situation in the trade and economic sphere and the future prospects of cooperation.
The Minister of Finance briefed the guest on the current macroeconomic situation in the country, the current financial resources for combating the pandemic, including the issues of mobilization of funds allocated by donors.
Ivane Machavariani thanked the guest for the support that Austria has been providing for many years in promoting Georgia's energy sector, environment, tourism, agriculture, education and culture. Georgia and the Republic of Austria have signed agreements on cooperation in the fields of economy, air transport, investment promotion and protection, avoidance of double taxation on income and capital, and other areas.
As it was mentioned at the meeting, Georgian-Austrian economic cooperation is developing dynamically and the interest of Austrian companies in Georgia's economic and investment potential is growing.
For his part, the Austrian Ambassador reiterated the importance of partnership with Georgia and noted that Austria will continue to support priority areas for the country.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope that despite the global pandemic, both countries will be able to further deepen cooperation and promote the strengthening of business ties.
