90-Year-Old Woman Receives First Shot of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine in UK

90-year-old Margaret Keenan was the first person to get the COVID-19 vaccine by Pfizer-BioNTech, under the mass vaccination program in the United Kingdom that began on Tuesday.

Keenan was administered the vaccine shot at her local hospital in Coventry, central England, on Tuesday morning at 06:31 GMT, a week before she turns 91.

“I feel so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Keenan as per the reports.

"Hubs in the UK will vaccinate over-80s and some health and care staff - the program aims to protect the most vulnerable and return life to normal," reports the BBC.

The UK is the first country in the world to start using the Pfizer vaccine after regulators approved its use last week.
