Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 1972 New Cases, 43 Deaths

Georgia reported  1972 coronavirus cases, 43 deaths and 2737 recoveries on Thursday, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, Berdia Sichinava, said.

Georgian capital Tbilisi reported the highest number of 920 COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours, followed by the Imereti region with 279 cases, and the Adjara region with 139 cases.

The total number of the country's coronavirus cases stands at 216 843, among them 194 705 people recovered and 2 276 died.

"As part of 2 months of intensive testing, 13 699 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, including 7 146 antigen tests and 6 553 PCRs.

"As a result, 1 972 newly confirmed cases of the infection were identified. The total number of confirmed cases detected since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic is 216 843.

"2 737 people have recovered and the total number of recovered persons has increased to 194 705.

"Unfortunately, we have 43 new cases of death. The total number of deaths has reached 2 276”, said Berdia Sichinava.

There are 405 people placed in quarantine facilities, 6 149 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized, 1 588 asymptomatic, and mild symptom patients are being treated at government-assigned treatment facilities, the official statistics show.
