Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 1784 New Cases, with 801 in Tbilisi
1784 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press briefing held today at the Government Administration.
He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of December 26, 2020.
"Within the scope of the intensive testing program within 14 421 teste were administered in the last 24 hours, out of which 7 170 were antigen-based express test method and 7 251 PCR.
"1 784 cases are detected through tests administered in the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 220 508 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.
"4 119 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 200 339.
"Unfortunately, 39 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since February 26 the total death toll has reached 2 352.
"Out of 1 784 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 801 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 121 - in Adjara, 281 - in Imereti, 101 - in Kvemo Kartli, 119 - in Shida Kartli, 40 - in Guria, 140 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 110 - in Kakheti, 30 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 31 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 10 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 17 791, out of which 5 701 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 2 606 are stationed in Tbilisi, 528 - in Adjara and 1 134 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 1 013 patients, out of which 501 are based in Tbilisi, 109 - in Adjara and 234 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 379 patients, out of which 195 are stationed in Tbilisi, 32 - in Adjara and 74 - in Imereti. 1 464 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 551 are based in Tbilisi, 647 - in Adjara and 110 - in Imereti. 10 626 individuals are treated at home.
"396 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 182 are located in Tbilisi, 116 - in Adjara and 13 - in Imereti.
"In total, 20 955 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6 through December 25, 2020.
"At present, 38 003 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 19 867 are based in Tbilisi, 3 717 - in Adjara and 4 738 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
