New Shelter a Christmas Gift for Homeless in Tbilisi
For the first time, homeless people in Georgia will be able to have Christmas in a new building specially constructed for them.
More than 200 homeless people, who are currently living in tents in the suburbs of the city, will have a safe shelter to spend their time in warm comfortable conditions.
The construction work on the new shelter has been almost completed in the village of Didi Digomi, near Tbilisi. Inhabitants of the shelter will have a chance to move there on Christmas Eve.
The new one-storey shelter is divided into two wings. Each room has private bathrooms and bedrooms. The shelter is also equipped with a dining room, medical center, hospital and psychologist cabinet.All rooms, including bathrooms, are equipped with heating and ventilation systems.
Tbilisi City Hall announced that the shelter will be provided with a gas supply, fire extinguisher and a boiler.
According to City Hall 1.6 million GEL has been allocated for the project from the city budget. Construction work is provided by the “RSP 40” company.
