ProCredit Bank Head Office Entered into the List of Green Buildings Worldwide
The Head Office of ProCredit Bank Georgia in Tbilisi has been entered into the list of green buildings around the world. It is the first building in Georgia to have its resource efficiency confirmed with an EDGE international certification. International energy experts audited the bank HQ, which combines modern architectural design with energy, water and material efficiency, following the environmentally-oriented philosophy of ProCredit group.
The large glazed façade frontage and atrium provide natural daylight along with an energy-efficient building envelope as well as low-E coated windows. The whole building is lit by LED lighting with occupancy sensors and lighting controls. High-efficiency equipment for heating and cooling ensures comfortable ambient air while saving energy at the same time.
In the case of green buildings, it is not only the building itself that is important but also the consumption of resources, which is why ProCredit Bank Georgia has installed one of the first rainwater harvesting systems in the country at its Head Office.
On top of this, ProCredit is the only bank in the country to operate its own solar power plant – with the system being used not only to generate electricity for internal use but also to charge its fleet of electric vehicles.
ProCredit Bank Georgia gradually plans to complete further EDGE certification stages for its head office. The final goal of the company is to achieve the zero carbon stage, making the ProCredit Bank Georgia HO 100% carbon neutral. After meeting the first-level requirement in the “zero carbon journey”, ProCredit Bank Georgia hopes to become a role model for other companies in the market, encouraging them to take similar environmental initiatives with aim to reduce their environmental footprint.
