Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 1857 New Cases, 24 Deaths

1857 new confirmed cases of coronavirus were detected in the last 24 hours, Berdia Sichinava, representative of the Interagency Coordination Council, said at the briefing held at the government administration. He spoke about the latest statistics on coronavirus.

"17 795 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, including 11 934 antigen tests and 5 861 PCRs.

"As a result, 1857 newly confirmed cases of the infection were identified in the last 24 hours. Georgian capital Tbilisi recorded the highest number of 754 Covid-19 cases, followed by the Imereti region with 334 cases, and the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region with 158 cases. 

"The total number of confirmed cases detected since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic is 241 637.

"993 people have recovered and the total number of recovered persons has increased to 227 208.

"Unfortunately, we have 24 new cases of death. The total death toll has reached 2 820,” said Berdia Sichinava.

He added that presently, there are 514 people placed in government-assigned quarantine facilities, 3 879 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized, and 22 823 people are in self-isolation.
