Georgia Reports 1357 New Cases of Coronavirus

1 357 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of January 14, 2021.

"Within the scope of intensive testing 15 891 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 8 767 were antigen-based express test method and 7 124 PCR.

"1 357 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 244 612 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

"748 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 228 359.

"Unfortunately, 21 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 2 867.

"Out of 1 357 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 561 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 112 - in Adjara, 196 - in Imereti, 69 - in Kvemo Kartli, 111 - in Shida Kartli, 18 - in Guria, 131 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 84 - in Kakheti, 41 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 26 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 8 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 13 360, out of which 3 780 individuals are being treated in hospital, out of which 1 756 are stationed in Tbilisi, 337 - in Adjara and 746 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 808 patients, out of which 369 are based in Tbilisi, 62 - in Adjara and 192 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are being used in the case of 240 patients, of which 158 are stationed in Tbilisi, 8 - in Adjara and 27 - in Imereti. 638 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 236 are based in Tbilisi, 325 - in Adjara and 28 - in Imereti. 8 942 individuals are treated at home.

"469 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 196 are located in Tbilisi, 76 - in Adjara and 7 - in Imereti.

"In total, 21 673 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6, 2020 through January 13, 2021.

"At present, 23 545 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 13 256 are based in Tbilisi, 2 272 - in Adjara and 2 549 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
