Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 903 New Cases, 14827 Tests Performed
903 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.
He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of January 22, 2021.
"Within the scope of intensive testing 14 827 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 7 997 were antigen-based express test method and 6 830 PCR.
"903 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 251 974 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.
"636 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 238 737.
"Unfortunately, 24 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3 022.
"Out of 903 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 469 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 52 - in Adjara, 107 - in Imereti, 44 - in Kvemo Kartli, 51 - in Shida Kartli, 12 - in Guria, 73 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 47 - in Kakheti, 18 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 24 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 6 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 10 189, out of which 3 367 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 663 are stationed in Tbilisi, 251 - in Adjara and 667 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 733 patients, out of which 317 are based in Tbilisi, 55 - in Adjara and 185 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 218 patients, out of which 158 are stationed in Tbilisi, 3 - in Adjara and 26 - in Imereti. 479 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 227 are based in Tbilisi, 175 - in Adjara and 22 - in Imereti. 6 343 individuals are treated at home.
"523 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 204 are located in Tbilisi, 1 15- in Adjara and 9 - in Imereti.
"In total, 21 743 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6, 2020 through January 21, 2021.
"At present, 20 231 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 11 602 are based in Tbilisi, 1 501 - in Adjara and 2 108 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
