Coronavirus: Georgia Records 298 New Cases, with 107 in Tbilisi

298 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, announced at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of January 25, 2021.

"Within the scope of intensive testing 6 868 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 2 686 were antigen-based express test method and 4 182 PCR.

"298 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 253 816 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

"1 311 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 243 396.

"Unfortunately, 16 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3 071.

"Out of 298 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 107 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 18 - in Adjara, 44 - in Imereti, 13 - in Kvemo Kartli, 19 - in Shida Kartli, 21 - in Guria, 32 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 26 - in Kakheti, 6 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 12 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 0 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 7 323,, out of which 3 223 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 623 are stationed in Tbilisi, 226 - in Adjara and 611 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 706 patients, out of which 3 17are based in Tbilisi, 55 - in Adjara and 171 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 195 patients, out of which 145 are stationed in Tbilisi, 1 - in Adjara and 25 - in Imereti. 402 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 203 are based in Tbilisi, 131 - in Adjara and 20 - in Imereti. 3 698 individuals are treated at home.

"515 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 205 are located in Tbilisi, 107 - in Adjara and 9 - in Imereti.

"In total, 21 871 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6, 2020 through January 24, 2021.

"At present, 18 709 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 11 364 are based in Tbilisi, 1 125 - in Adjara and 1 846 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
