Geo Products to Start Production in February
Geo Products, and the Invest in Georgia project, will release their first production in February, 2016.
The berries and vegetables produced will be sold in Georgia initially, and will eventually be exported abroad.
According to the head of the company, Kakhaber Tutberidze, the company produces strawberries, green onions, dill, parsley and other products.
Greenhouse construction has begun in Rustavi covering 1,400 square meters.
“According to the schedule, we have to start producing in 2 years but we are starting now. We will produce strawberries, lettuce, green onions, cucumbers and tomatoes,” said the company director, and added that they are planning to expand because 1,400 square meters is not enough.
Geo Products will employ 15 people in the first stage, some of them permanently and others seasonally.
The company plans to export to Russia initially, because according to the company’s director, Russia’s lower standards allow for easier export. The company plans to export to the EU market, but more resources are needed to satisfy the strict regulations.
Seventy-Five Thousand Lari has already been invested in the project.
Geo Products purchased the land for ₾1 per square meter thanks to the Invest in Georgia program.
The company must produce no less than 15 tons of berries and vegetables for two years.
