Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 723 New Cases, 17850 Tests Performed
723 new cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today's briefing at the Administration of the Government.
He reported the latest COVID-19 statistics.
"17,850 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including 10,718 antigen tests and 7,132 PCR tests.
"Consequently, we have 723 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 256,287 confirmed cases.
"We have 932 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 246,459.
"Unfortunately, 19 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 3,127 fatalities.
"Of the 723 cases identified today, 321 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 33 in Adjara, 121 in Imereti, 27 in Kvemo Kartli, 52 in Shida Kartli, 9 in Guria, 78 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 42 in Kakheti, 16 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 23 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 1 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
"Presently, we have 6,675 active infection cases. 2,770 persons are treated in hospitals, including 1,369 in Tbilisi, 208 in Adjara, and 546 in Imereti. We have 662 severe cases, including 311 in Tbilisi, 49 in Adjara, and 163 in Imereti, of whom 171 are on a ventilator, including 151275 in Tbilisi, 2 in Adjara, and 19 in Imereti.
"346 persons are in clinical hotels, including 183 in Tbilisi, 115 in Adjara, and 14 in Imereti. 3,559 persons are recovering at home.
"We have 538 persons in quarantine zones, including 219 in Tbilisi, 116 in Adjara, and 9 in Imereti.
"From October 6 through January 27, a total of 22,091 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.
"Presently, 17,042 persons are self-isolating, including 10,718 in Tbilisi, 859 in Adjara, and 1,586 in Imereti," Berdia Sichinava said.
