Georgia Reports 669 New Coronavirus Cases, 21 Deaths

669 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, announced at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of today.

"Within the scope of intensive testing, 19 311 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 11 681 were antigen-based express test method and 7 630 PCR.

"669 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 256 956 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

"637 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 247 096.

"Unfortunately, 21 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3 148.

"Out of 669 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 285 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 40 - in Adjara, 119 - in Imereti, 41 - in Kvemo Kartli, 23 - in Shida Kartli, 16 - in Guria, 79 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 49 - in Kakheti, 6 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 10 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 1 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 6 686, out of which: 2 731 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 375 are stationed in Tbilisi, 195 - in Adjara and 512 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 610 patients, out of which 289 are based in Tbilisi, 2 - in Adjara and 17 - in Imereti.

"322 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 184 are based in Tbilisi, 97 - in Adjara and 12 - in Imereti. 3 633 individuals are treated at home.

"521 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 220 are located in Tbilisi and 104- in Adjara.

"In total 22 146 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine venues from October 6 through January 28, 2021.

"Currently 17 108 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 10 924 are based in Tbilisi, 831 - in Adjara and 1 498 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
