Georgia Reports 858 New Cases of Coronavirus, 14 Deaths

858 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press briefing held today at the Government Administration.

He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of today.

"Within the scope of intensive testing 17 271 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 11 459 were antigen-based express test method and 5 812 PCR.

"858 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 259 209 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.

"580 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 250 289.

"Unfortunately, 14 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3 208.

"Out of 858 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 339 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 53 - in Adjara, 158 - in Imereti, 49 - in Kvemo Kartli, 50 - in Shida Kartli, 38 - in Guria, 85 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 44 - in Kakheti, 21 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 15 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 6 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

"At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 5 686, out of which: 2 520 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 229 are stationed in Tbilisi, 181 - in Adjara and 485 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 575 patients, out of which 254 are based in Tbilisi, 44 - in Adjara and 146 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 160 patients, out of which 119 are stationed in Tbilisi, 5 - in Adjara and 16 - in Imereti. 283 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 191 are based in Tbilisi, 81 - in Adjara and 11 - in Imereti. 2 883 individuals are treated at home.

"480 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 202 are located in Tbilisi and 117 - in Adjara.

"In total 22 357 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine venues from October 6 through February 1, 2021.

"Currently, 14 569 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 9 621 are based in Tbilisi, 746 - in Adjara and 1 528 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
