New 20 and 50 Georgian Lari Banknotes Released

The National Bank of Georgia released 20 and 50 Georgian lari banknotes into circulation Monday, according to the bank’s official Web site.

The new banknotes will keep the overall artistic design and theme of their predecessors but will feature enhanced color tones of red, green and purple. The size of the new banknote have also been changed and all will include a nominal recognition mark for people with poor eyesight.

The bank said new 100 lari notes will be released later this year, with 5 and 10 lari banknotes introduced at a later date.
