Georgian Manufacturers to Export Tariff-free Products to China
TBILISI – Georgian producers will have the opportunity to export their products to China without an additional tariff after Georgia and China adopt a Free Trade Agreement.
The first round of Free Trade negotiations between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China was held in Tbilisi. According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the parties discussed the main direction of the agreement, as well as a possible timetable of consultations.
Deputy Ministry of the Economy, Genadi Arveladze stated that the two parties have agreed that the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement should be completed by the end of 2016.
The second round of negotiations will be held in May, 2016. Further consultations will be held in every two months.
The start of Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Georgia and the People`s Republic of China was decided by the prime ministers of both countries on September 10th, 2015 at the World Economic Forum in Dalian, China.
The memorandum of starting negotiation on the Free Trade Agreement was signed between China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia on December 10th, 2015, in China.
