Russia’s Ural Air Plans Direct Flights to Batumi

TBILISI – Russia’s Ural Airlines plans to carry out direct flights from St. Petersburg to Georgia’s Black Sea coast city Batumi from 16 May, the airline said in an official presentation on Tuesday.

Ural Airlines made the announcement during a presentation by representatives of from the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara, the coastal region where Batumi is located. The airline said the St. Petersburg-Batumi route would be serviced twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, from St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport.

The announcement comes on the heels of the Adjaran regional government’s aggressive new campaign to court Russian tourists in 2016.
