First Zebra Crossing Appears in Tbilisi as Part of Public Safety Drive

TBILISI – Tbilisi’s first colourful zebra crossing has appeared in the Georgian capital’s Didube district as part of a state-run under public safety campaign.

Student volunteers from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and Ilia State University took part in the project.

The Beliashvili Street crossing is the first of two planned for the Didube region. According to the district’s administration, the second will appear later this year.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched the campaign in 2015 as part of a drive to increase the public’s awareness about road safety.
