Georgian Journalist Meets Brussels Attack Victim Featured in Her Photos
BRUSSELS - A Georgian journalist Ketevan Kardava took photos of the immediate aftermath of the Brussels attacks one week ago today.
Her photo of basketball player Sebastien Bellin and his seriously damaged legs stayed with her.
CBC brought them together for the first time.
“Sebastian and I met each other for the first time! I want to thank him, his very lovely wife and colleagues from Canadian television. The story about Sebastian and his photographer, that is me, is being prepared by the Emmy-winning journalist and the correspondent of international news at a Canadian television, Adrienne Arsennault. Sebastian is already one of my closest friends. He will soon recover and we will defeat terrorism together,” Kardava says.
A series of explosions rocked the Belgian capital Brussels early Tuesday morning, on March 22, after huge blasts ripped through the departure area of Brussels’ Zaventem Airport and at a metro station in the city center, killing at least 38 people and leaving more than 300 people injured.
