Georgia Welcomes Chinese Airlines

TBILISI – China-based Hualing Group will soon launch regular flights from Tbilisi to Europe and Asia.

This announcement came after a meeting between representatives of the Georgian government and major Chinese investors. Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dmitry Kumsishvili, said that the new airline has already been registered in the country and will begin operations soon.

“Two Boeing 737s - later a one Boeing 777 - will operate between Georgia, Asia and Europe. We also hope to launch flights to the US, which is a significant development for us and critical for boosting tourism in the country,” said Kumsishvili.

Hualing plans to invest millions of dollars into the country, according to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

Chinese investors will implement several different high-profile investment projects in Georgia in the coming years, including a natural gas storage facility, British-model educational centers, a hospital complex and the development of the country’s indigenous tea industry.

“We have been one of the largest investors in Georgia for several years. The founder of our company loves Georgia very much and we plan to invest into new projects in the country,” said Hauling Group’s regional director.
