Number of Supreme Court Judges to Increase to 28

The Ministry of Justice has announced that there will now be 28 judges as Members of the Supreme Court, an increase from 16. The move comes as the third wave of reforms of the justice system envisaged by the legislative changes which the government approved at a meeting today.
“Today, it is obscure how the plenum decides how many judges should be in the Supreme Court," said Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani. "With this reform we are proposing that this issue should not be abandoned and that the Law will define that the Georgian Supreme Court will have 28 members.”
