Saakashvili’s Low Salary as Odessa Governor Revealed

The salary of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of Governor of the Odessa region is approximately 267 USD per month according to a report by political scientist Gleb Kanevsky in his blog "Ukrainian truth".

On May 29, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko granted Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship and then appointed him as the Governor of Odessa. Ex-president Saakashvili commented on his own salary noting that he would not be able to remain in the post with such a salary. Nevertheless, Saakashvili claims he often has conversations with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. 

“I feel his support almost every day. Nobody from his administration hinders me in the process appointing people. The high officials of the presidential administration have simply been warned to give me total freedom,” Saakashvili has told Ukraine’s ICTV.
