4.8 Earthquake Hits Tbilisi

TBILISI – A minor 4.8 earthquake struck the Georgian capital at 2:14 PM on Tuesday, according to the country’s Seismic Monitoring Center.

The monitoring center said the earthquake’s epicentre was 53 kilometers southwest of Tbilisi, just outside the village of Sogutlo and roughly 10 kilometers northwest of the small town of Dmanisi.

The Seismic Monitoring Center added that the earthquake struck at a depth of 5 kilometers.

No casualty or damage reports were immediately available.
