New Georgian Wine Center Opens in China

NANCHANG, China – According to the Ministry of information, a new Georgian wine boutique has opened in the capital of China’s southeast Jiangxi Province, Nanchang.

The new 4,000 m2 boutique is the 40th of its kind to open in China in the last two years. The center includes an exhibition hall, tasting room, museum and Georgian restaurant.

Developing robust political, economic and cultural relations with China has been one of the top priorities of the ruling Georgian Dream coalition.

Cooperation between the Chinese Communist Party and the Georgian government, including a Sino-Georgian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, has significantly contributed to increased trade and stronger economic relations.

China became one of the leading importers of Georgian wine in 2016, with only Russia and Ukraine buying more bottles than the Chinese.

Between January and June, more than 1.9 million bottles of Georgian wine was exported to China, a 148 percent year-on-year increase from 2015.
