Georgian Consulting Group to Present Climate Change Action Plan

TBILISI – Georgia’s Policy Management and Consulting Group (PMCG) will hold a seminar to discuss their recent about the effects of climate change in the country.

According to the group, they will propose recommendations to the Georgian government regarding its proposed Action Plan for Climate Change and the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

PMCG will be presented its findings on Friday at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, which underwrote the survey carried out by PMCG.

Georgia has committed to transforming its economy to low carbon and climate-resilient energy sources. The government has said it will prepare a roadmap for reducing the country’s greenhouse gas emissions from 2021.

PMCG research focused on identifying specific climate change problems in Georgia, as well as developing effective solutions.

The group’s main recommendations included:

  • Setting up a sophisticated data collection system capable of compiling verifiable information on greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Creating a system that would effectively coordinate working groups and all private shareholders to develop more environmentally friendly construction projects.
